I enjoy the grind

19.10.2022

How do you continue to find the competitive drive and spirit in the sport after all your success? asks Pat McAfee I enjoy the grind. Nick Saban, head coach of Alabama football and winner of seven national championships We live in an outcome-focused world, and it's so easy to get wrapped up in the desired result that we lose focus on our daily priorities. We spend time thinking about wanting to lose weight but neglect to exercise for 10min. We spend time wanting more sales, yet we don't pick up the phone to prospect. We want a better relationship, yet we don't pick up flowers or write a love note to our spouse. How can we focus more on our daily process? By Eric Papp

LIFO (Last in, First out)

18.10.2022

Last in, first out is an accounting method used to track inventory. I experience LIFO (last in, first out) when I go to bed. Usually, the last thing I read or watch will somehow make it into my dream. If we experience this, why don't we do a better job at programming what we want in our life?   By Eric Papp

Choose Your Battles

16.10.2022

I'm sure you've heard this before; I thought you might want a reminder. In the age of distractions, attention span is declining. And much of our thinking comes from an emotional response to what we hear or read. You will encounter challenges throughout your day and read/watch things you disagree with; it is up to you to understand which ones are worth pursuing. Today I choose to fight against myself. I fight against thoughts of procrastination, impatient behavior, and imposture syndrome. What battle do you want to fight today?   By Eric Papp

Getting Started

14.10.2022

Where do I start?  How will I get there?  It will take too long. These were just some of the Self Limiting Thoughts (SLT) I had in my head for years before I chose to write another book. Years! Since I didn't know exactly how I would accomplish writing my book, I figured; Why bother? Amazingly, our need for certainty prevents us from taking the 1st step. Before starting a project, we typically don't move forward if we can't see all fifteen steps. Headlights allow us to see up to 350 feet ahead even though there may be no other light around. We know if we keep moving, we will continue to see further ahead and eventually reach our destination. Imagine if we believed in ourselves as we do in our car's headlights at night. by Eric Papp

Imagination

13.10.2022

At what age does it leave us?  When I sit down with my two-year-old daughter and watch an episode of Bluey, I'm inspired by the dad's imagination on the show and how he finds creative ways to play with his children.  Watching the show has given me permission to tap into my imagination when I play with my daughter and tune down the adult thoughts. This is stupid/silly  That won't work  This is not how the world works  I believe we get so focused on "being right" and our "to-do" list that we neglect to open ourselves up to new possibilities.  Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited, and imagination embraces the entire world.  Einstein  What if you exercised more of your imagination?   by Eric Papp
